I had a blast performing at the Southern New York Racing Association Reunion!
Here's one of many great photos taken at the event:
That's me with legendary driver Chick Stockwell in his (also legendary) 151 car!
My friend, Bob Brought invited me to perform at the reunion way back in the Spring. Knowing that I had written the Danbury Fair and Danbury Westerners songs, he suggested that I write a song for the Danbury Racearena. Well, to be honest I dragged my feet on it for a long time. But over the last month, I came up with some ideas for the song. I woke up one night with a melody and the lyrics for the chorus of the song and I was on my way...
Long story short, I finished the song just in time for the reunion and played it on Sunday afternoon. I didn't have the lyrics memorized yet, so Bob agreed to be a human music stand for me. Thanks Bob! Everyone loved it and immediately began asking for copies of the song on CD. I had to explain that it was so new, that I hadn't recorded it yet!
Well.... that's the next thing on my musical agenda. I plan to begin working on recording the new tune, I'm Drivin' At The Racearena real soon with hopefully a CD release before Christmas.
At the reunion, I also played Danbury Fair three times due to popular demand and my Danbury Westerners Theme song as well for good measure.
Photographer Elaine Lagarto took some great photos throughout the day. You can see some of them on the Photos page. Enjoy!
This week marks what was traditionally the beginning of Fair Week for the old Danbury Fair. With that in mind, I hope everyone takes a moment to enjoy my song and music video Danbury Fair. You can watch it on the Video page or on YouTube. Be sure to leave a comment!
And if you REALLY like it, you can download the song on MP3 or order a copy of the music video (along with additional material) on DVD on the Store page!
My next public performance will be at Rosy Tomorrows on Sunday, October 9th which also happens to be be John Lennon's birthday. You can be sure I will be playing lots of Beatles and John Lennon songs! Be sure to stop on by! Details are on the Performances page.
Long live the Danbury Fair and I hope to see you at Rosy's!
